The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is researching safe and innovative ways to provide travelers entering Canada with a better and faster border experience. All passengers arriving at YYC Calgary International Airport on an international flight can use the CBSA advance declaration. Fast lanes will also be provided at the customs area of the airport so that passengers who have completed their CBSA extension declarations will not have to wait in line for PIK machines (primary inspection kiosks). Enhanced CBSA declaration functionality enables travelers to submit customs and immigration declarations through ArriveCAN up to 72 hours before arrival in Canada. Passengers can now spend less time at PIK upon arrival at the airport, resulting in shorter wait times at the border. Travelers who file their declarations early can use the new Fast Track to make enhanced CBSA declarations to expedite the processing of their arrivals.
In an effort to modernize and expedite the travel experience, the Advance CBSA Declaration feature is already available to travellers arriving on international flights at the following Canadian airports:
- Toronto Pearson
- Montreal-Trudeau
- Winnipeg Richardson
- Vancouver
- Halifax
- Québec City Jean Lesage
The feature will be available to travelers arriving at Edmonton, Billy Bishop Toronto City and Ottawa International Airports in the coming months. The advanced CBSA claims capability is part of the agency’s Traveler Modernization program, which will be implemented over the next few years. Modernizing the travel experience includes using digital technologies and tools for travelers and border officials.
